Details: Evita is a musical biography based on facts from the life of Eva Perón-Duarte – the second wife of Juan Perón the president of Argentina. This is the best known and the most frequently performed work of Andrew Lloyd Webber. The premiere took place in the Prince Edward Theatre in London's West End on the 21st of June 1978. A year later this exceptional masterpiece was shown on Broadway where it was performed 1584 times! The film version directed by Alan Parker also turned out to be also a great success. It was nominated for five Film Academy Awards – Oscars. Madonna played the leading role, accompanied by Antonio Banderas.
The realisation of the Music Theatre in Poznań is the first performance in Poland of the musical composed by the world's most famous author of musicals in the world, in its latest music version from 2010. It includes the song „You must love me” composed for Madonna for the needs of the film adaptation from 1996. The Poznań spectacle is enjoying high popularity among spectators who come from all over Poland to see it, and the tickets are sold out few months in advance!
Andrew Lloyd Webber is the author of the biggest blockbuster musicals in the world such as Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar or the Phantom of the Opera. The spectacle has been created by the producers who had earlier worked with the musical Jekyll&Hyde which was enthusiastically received by the audience. Sebastian Gonciarz is the director of the spectacle, Mariusz Napierała is the stage designer, Paulina Andrzejewska created the choreography. The costumes were designed by Agata Uchman. The music director is Piotr Deptuch. The musical is performed in the Polish translation by Andrzej Ozga. The licence for the spectacle was granted to the Theatre by The Really Useful Group. The cast was chosen in the audition from 100 artists who applied from all over Poland.

Place: Music Theatre in Poznań

The Music Theatre in Poznań offers entertainment at the highest level. It is now one of the culture institutions which are most energetically developing in Poland. It prides itself on the repertoire which comprises numerous musicals, operettas, concerts, comedies, spectacles for children and poetry salons. In 2016 the Theatre will celebrate the 60th anniversary of its activity. It is highly regarded by the audience and a lot of music critics, due to the fact that it is achieving new artistic goals and continuously developing. The constant presence in the media, the great location in the centre of Poznań and the interesting repertoire made it the most frequently visited theatre in the city. In 2015 the Theatre was visited by 115 000 spectators ensuring the attendance of over 100%, which is a record in Poland. Its signature mark is a logo which is composed of a heart and a diamond which symbolise persistent work and the love for art. The Music Theatre in Poznań has recently performed, among others, the concert of the world famous tenor Placido Domingo, the Broadway musical hit Jekyll&Hyde by F. Wildhorn and Evita by A. L. Webber in its latest music version from 2010. In 2016 the Theatre is preparing an outdoor performance of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar to celebrate the 1050th anniversary of the Christianisation of Poland. In the season of 2015/2016 the company - PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny became the Patron of the Theatre. Additional information: The duration of the spectacle is 120 minutes with one intermission. The audience is allowed to enter the Theatre 30 minutes before the show starts. The price includes wine repast and refreshments after the performance.
